fish
you need to click on the game for it to track your mouse properly
known bugs:
- octopi, projectiles and children moving during zoom
- projectiles never despawning
- octopi existing on top of the UI
Hello, I am Toby.
This is my first game jam though I do have previous but limited game dev experience.
I had no idea coming into this so the concept was made up as it went and I think it turned out pretty well with a reasonable scope.
Things I did not get around to doing are:
- sfx
- music
- replacing the background image that just says 'cool bg'
Tools I used:
- Godot for the gameplay
- A mix between aseprite and pinta for sprites
How to play the game:
The controls are very cool and use something I haven't really seen before.
The player is controlled by mouse movement and it makes for very fluid and fast-paced movement which I think adds to the overall feel of the game.
The aim of the game is to go around collecting children, the fishes that spawn around the area. HOWEVER, the map occasionally shrinks or grows, if the indicator is around the outside it is growing if the indicator is within the screen its shrinking to that area, if you do not get inside that area you will die instantly. To top all that off there are enemies shooting at you constantly. If you get hit by a projectile you lose a fish. If you run into an enemy you lose a fish but it also kills the enemy so its a tradeoff. if you get hit with no fishes you lose. The aim is to get the highest score possible
I hope you have fun :)
Oh also I feel obligated to mention I use Arch btw
